Leading Lady Workshop PDF Print E-mail

This past summer a bunch of Drexel Players had the oppurtunity to team up with the University of the Arts and Theatre professionals on a developmental musical theater workshop of Leading Lady.

The musical Leading Lady was directed and produced by Theater Professor Bill Fennelly who worked with composer and lyricist Charles Gilbert and writer P. Seth Bauer – both theatre faculty members from the University of the Arts who began working on Desmond’s story in the summer of 2010. The workshop also engaged music director Owen Robbins, as well as dramaturge Ed Sobel, currently the Associate Artistic Director at The Arden Theater, and culminated with several public performances in late September.

The workshop was a great opportunity to work with professionals: Clare O'Malley, Alex Bechtel, Jim Bergwell and D'Arcy Webb.

Drexel Players Present Parts: A Speed-Through PDF Print E-mail

We returned to the Fringe this past September!

Parts Postcard

The Drexel Players conceived, produced, wrote and performed Parts: A Speed-Through, as part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival 2013. Parts: A Speed-Through took an inside look at the relationships that young theater artists share as they produce a fictional theater show. Co-written and co-directed by Alumi James Haro and Laurel Hostak, Parts began as a "slightly skewed self-portrait of the Drexel Players”.

Parts was a great learning experience for all envolved and we got a fantastic review from Phindie, and I believe the phrase "Thank the theater gods for the Drexel Players" was used... so there's that!

Check out #dpparts for more Parts Photos!
