Several different new plays in development
Co-Op Theater Company is hosting a New Works Festival this quarter involving three shows " Welcome to Campus", "New Play Readings" and an adaptation of "A Tale of Two Cities".
"Welcome to Campus" a collaboration with Swim Pony Performing Arts, a professional theater company that is partnering with Drexel to create this new show. The play will put the audience through a simulated college tour of the Drexel campus, stopping at important spots in the lives of the students giving the tour. The performance will begin in the URBN Annex Black Box Theater and culminate in the Mandell Theater.
"New Play Readings" two nights of readings of scripts written by students from Drexel Screenwriting/Playwriting Program. These will be directed by theater faculty member Bill Fennelly with dramaturgy by Screenwriting faculty member Bruce Graham.
"A Tale of Two Cities" a brand new adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities by Jane
ABOUT THE CO-OP THEATRE COMPANY
The Co-Op Theatre Company is a resident theater company run by students that produces shows as part of the Theater Program at Drexel University and is sponsored by the Department of Performing Arts.
Students receive hands on experience running a theater company at a professional level. While still in its infancy we have had students consistently serving as Assistant to the Producing Director, and Director of Marketing, and in key production positions and alumni return as paid professionals.
