I hope you are all having a great break. Here is something to look forward to in the New Year.
Auditions for the Winter Production of Red Herring directed by Lee Etzold Wednesday, January 7th in the Mandell Theater starting at 6:00 pm Requirements: Audition sides and "Put On A Happy Face" are available. Email nick.anselmo@drexel.edu to have a copy emailed to you. Familiarize yourself with the audition sides. Scripts of the show are available in the Green Room and in the performing arts office 2018 MacAlister Hall. Brief description: Red Herring is a farce comedy that takes place during the communist red scare of the 1950s. It is a satire of film noir, the red scare and marriage. Three love stories, a murder mystery, and a nuclear espionage plot converge in this noir comedy about marriage and other explosive devices. It's 1952: America is on the verge of the H-bomb, Dwight Eisenhower's on the campaign trail, and I Love Lucy is on Monday nights. Meanwhile, Senator Joe McCarthy's daughter just got engaged to a Soviet spy, and Boston detective Maggie Pelletier has to find out who dumped the dead guy in the Harbor — or else lose out on a honeymoon in Havana. A blunt-nosed, sharp-eyed look at love and tying (and untying, and retying) the knot. Characters: Maggie Pelletier — hard nosed detective Frank Keller — FBI agent in love with Maggie, tough guy, former alcoholic Lynn McCarthy — young, seeming naïve daughter of Senator Joe McCarthy James Appel — Lynn's fiancé, Soviet spy Mrs. Kravitz — late 40s early 50s. Tough, manipulative landlady who will do anything to get the love of Andrei Andrei Borchevsky — heavy Russian accent, late 40s, delivers secrets to the Russians in order to keep his wife, who he has not seen in six years alive. Male Ensemble #1 — Sings and plays multiple small roles Male Ensemble #2 — Sings and plays multiple small roles Female Ensemble — Sings and plays multiple small roles Rehearsals begin on Sunday, January 11th.
