Good Audition Tips:

Audition Tip #1

"Come prepared! Read the play before you go in and audition. You'll have a better sense of the character you're auditioning for. You want to know why you're saying the things you are saying.

Audition Tip #2

Make strong choices. What are your characters motives? A timid reading probably won't get you very far.

If the director gives you notes and asks you to read again, that's not a bad thing! They want to see how well you take direction, whether it's a huge change or a small emotional shift.

Audition Tip #3

Be confident, but not arrogant. Show (don't tell) the director that you're right for the part. Don't go in there like you deserve the part.

Audition Tip #4

Don't give up! If it's your first time auditioning and you aren't cast, come back! Casting is a difficult process and though you may not be right the first time around, you never know when the perfect role will come around.

Audition Tip #5

Be friendly to your fellow auditioners. Yes, you may be going against one another for a part, but cattiness

or bragging won't get you the role.

Audition Tip #6

It's a lot less scary than you imagine. Everyone we work with is part of the Drexel Players family. We're still in school and our directors understand we are still learning from all of this.

Breathe. Take your time. Breathe again."

Audition Tip #7

Take a deep breath.

Audition Tip #8
Don't look sloppy - its better to be over dressed than under

Audition Tip #9
Make choices - auditions are about showing what you can do and your instincts.

Audition Tip #10
Have fun!- it shows

Note: Our productions at Drexel will reflect the cultural and racial diversity that we celebrate in our country. We encourage students from all backgrounds to audition for shows.
